Smart Agriculture
Agriculture is a fundamental source of national prosperity. – J. J. Mapes
India is an agriculture-based country. About seventy per cent of our population depends on agriculture. Even the cultural calendar of India and the festivals revolve around agriculture. One-third of our National income comes from agriculture. Our economy is based on agriculture. Agriculture sector helps to fully utilize the unused land in developing countries. The expansion of agriculture output caused an abundant supply of unused land to be brought under cultivation. While reforms like the Green Revolution helped boost the production of crops, agro-based products, the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides had an alarming effect on the quality and productivity of soil in the long run. So now the focus of the farmers and environment enthusiasts is to shift towards a soil-friendly and sustainable approach. Chemical-based farming doesn’t just harm the environment and soil quality but it also has adverse effects on the health of the farmer who sprays that as well as the consumers. The efforts of Chowraasta shall be to have some fruitful intervention in order to initiate positive action.
