Global Warming
The world must come together to confront climate change. There is little scientific dispute that if we do nothing, we will face more drought, famine and mass displacement that will fuel more conflict for decades. -Barack Obama
‘Global Warming’ a term that has been making it to headlines almost every day in the past 2 decades. A term almost everyone is familiar with. But, its meaning is still not clear to most of us. So, Global warming refers to the gradual rise in the overall temperature of the atmosphere of the Earth. These causes are both natural as well as manmade, but it is the manmade causes that have a far-reaching effect. The natural causes include the release of greenhouses gases which are not able to escape from earth, causing the temperature to increase. Industrialization, excessive use of products that increase greenhouse gas emissions, uncontrolled felling down of trees are some of the causes that have led to the melting of glaciers, rising temperatures of earth, etc. Global Warming has been identified as a modern-day problem that shall lead to worsening of living conditions on earth if proper measures aren’t adopted as soon as possible. As stated earlier, it might be challenging but it is not entirely impossible. Global warming can be stopped when combined efforts are put in. For that, individuals and governments, both have to take steps towards achieving it. We must begin with the reduction of greenhouse gas. While we suggest individuals practice sustainable acts in everyday instances like switching to walking/cycling wherever possible, the use of public transport, avoiding the use of plastics. NGO’s like ours can play a bigger role in mobilizing mass activities, planning green drives, cleanliness campaigns, voicing out our concerns before the government etc. We want to do our best to help solve the most pressing issue of the 21st Century.
